A very long time ago we had a 69 f250 that for vacations only, not for week end trips, we would take out the back window and replace it with a "camper pass thru boot" It worked very well. The camper window was much bigger in that 1966? ElDorado
While running down the road DW could crawl thru and get us snacks or drinks or fix us sandwiches. this was a standard cab so we didn't have a lot of space up front.
For the last 30 years our trucks have all had sliding windows that rarely or never get opened. The idea of either one of us crawling thru it would be very comical or sad depending on your attitude.
Our newest F350 even has a power slide window. It doesn't line up with the camper window.
