Ha ha ha. Thought he was joking. Rig seems perfect.
I do have a couple more questions about little issues with the rig I'm trying to understand better.
The seller is a member here and was honest about the rig. He took me through it and pointed out everything, good and bad. Very straightforward. A stand up guy.
First: The generator is an onan 2500 lp. I'm not all that happy about lp generators due to the .6 gal/hr consumption, limited propane capacity and pita it is to go find propane as compared to gasoline. I habe 2 generator questions.
1) Can I find a real carb for this thing, run a fuel line from the main tank of the truck and convert to a gasoline generator? For ease of fuel handling?
2). The generator isn't working properly. A weird set of symptoms. It starts instantly and runs perfectly no load. Put the air conditioning load on it and it still runs perfectly for about 30 seconds to a minute. After that, it starts skippin . Misfiring. It seems to get progressively worse as it goes, but still ran misfiring for several minutes without any stalling under full air conditioning load. Spark, fuel, air. We pulled the air filter. Nothing. We added oil to be sure it was not the oil level switch. It's propane, so no gummed carb, obviously. That leaves spark and fuel in my mind. Any ideas?
Second issue: there were some things installed on the roof and they had a leak issue. Leak got between outer fiberglass shell and whatever, causing delamination of some good size areas in the front. My question is both about how these are built and if that's serious.
1) I'm very sensitive to mold after too many years in moldy boats. Is there a vapor barrier or something that is between whatever it is the outer skin is bonded to and the insulation? My main concern is water getting into the insulation and mold kicking off. How likely or unlikely is this?
2). Is the delam a big deal?
Owner literally pointed this stuff out to me, so he's not hiding things. I was just trying to understand what I'm getting into here.
Rig is...
2002 dodge ram 2500. Cummins turbo d. Good miles. Air bags, well equipped. No rust. In decent shape. Tires so so.
Rig is 2009 arctic fox 811. 4 season model.
Perfect setup for me.
