SUVs cost more than a comparably equipped crew cab pickup, about $8k new. And after 2006 model year the capability of pickups exceeds to greatly exceeds SUVs. I would not recommend an SUV for RVing unless you need 3 rows of seats. A bed cover of some kind makes for the worlds largest trunk, although not climate controlled.
The average weekend RVer adds about 1000 pounds of stuff to dry RV weight. Food, cookware, clothes, entertainment, etc. If you will be traveling for months at a time, you'll have more stuff than average, even with two people.
