I need advise on what SUV and what travel trailer !

Actually Expeditions have 3/4 ton payloads, it is the tongue weight limitation that will get you before you ever see the payload. :)

I use to tow with a van before the Expeditions and would prefer it over a pick up. You can get them with one ton payloads and big power plants.

There are larger bunk house options tow-able with a Expy, maybe not 30 ft but close. The thing is those are not 4 season trailers and even in the south that may become a issue.
