I need brackets that attach to the truck to secure the TC?

on your 2001 Dodge, I think the rear brackets slide into the open sides of the factory hitch. they might have you drill a hole for a pin to hold the brackets in.

I used to use a 2 foot extension on my 98 and 2002 ram factory hitches to tow a 2000 lb flat bed trailer, or boat in that range.
