Wow, that is one poorly written article. I hope they aren't paying that "reporter" a salary for that kind of composition. A "white truck pulling a fifth-wheel fell on its side", suppose that is similar to "rolled over"?

From the pictures and description given, there are not enough details as to why the truck tipped over. I can see the trailer is going one direction, the tanker the other, and the car somehow is between them traveling in the same direction as the pickup and trailer.

My question is why is the car between the pickup and tanker? Was it trying to pass the pickup when the tanker showed up, then collided with the back of the pickup? I have seen pit manauvers, and it does not take much to flip over a car, so it is possible the car caused the pickup to roll.

If the car had a proper following distance, say 100' or more behind the fifth wheel, I could not see it getting involved with this collision.

I also wonder why the tanker did not take to the ditch on the other side of the road?

So basically from the details provided, you really can not tell what happened. Hopefully the tanker truck has a on board camera, it will answer most of those questions.

I agree.. more data needed. I would also offer for consideration
that "if" the turn was being executed at too high a rate of speed...
not sure we could guarantee that a DRW vehicle would have prevented
a similar outcome.

I would like to see "the rest of the story".

I would think the pickup and fiver turned to fast the trailer tipped and took the pickup with it. It hit the car which in turn push it under the tanker.

You are correct, the red car and the tanker were stopped at the intersection in the two left turn lanes, when the pickup and trailer turned right and rolled over. The article said that a total of five vehicles were involved but fails to mention how the other two were involved.

Also appears Tow Vehicle is a lifted 4x4 with oversized tires. High center of gravity may also factored into the rollover. I'm thinking the truck rolled taking the trailer with it.

I have towed with a lifted 4x4 F350 and it just is not as stable as My Dually 2wd F550. Having said that the 4x4 would do many things the dually is not capable of.
Right tool for the right job.
