I'd give the nod right now for the quiet and cost of the gas engine. Speaking for myself, I can't stand the smell of diesel burning, so not likely I'll ever own one unless I have a full-time, high towing need.
Don't know the last time you were around one of the new/newer diesels, ie, 2010 and up..there is NO diesel smell and anyone that owns one of these newer diesels will tell you that..Only time I smell diesel is when I'm fueling the truck..they are also VERY quiet as Fish alluded to....
all that aside, believe the OP made the right choice for him, well thought out and should work fine....good truck, good engine...Happy Camping to you:)
