This post is for my Ram friends.
Ram use that very same "twisty" C-channel frame in their 3500/4500/5500 cab and chassis models to make up-fitting easier. They use fully boxed in their pickup models which is more rigid(less flex) than C-channel frames. A frames rigidness should not be confused with its strength. It is just an inherent property of C-channel frames that they flex more than fully boxed frames, but fully boxed frames are a PITA to up-fit a flat bed or utility without cutting into it which would weaken the frame. This is why Ford uses C-channel frame sections in the bed sections of all their Super Duty truck to please their fleet buyers and up-fitters.
