Global warming causes all sorts of whacky weather, not just increased warming. The name is actually a misnomer, IMO. Here's a link that explains many of the changes that are occurring (especially see Changing Rain and Snow Patterns):

We're definitely getting ice in the ATL area, which should last until at least Thursday. We live in a small pocket of our county that hasn't been greatly affected - yet. I have friends living the same county that have heavy ice already and have lost power and tree limbs. We're hunkered down, waiting for our turn to come.
