Most of the time I leave all my tools in the truck and just hook up to the TT and go. That may not work for most, but with the F450 the extra 1800lbs of tongue weight isn't an issue. This makes it real easy hook up after work Friday night to get away for a quick weekend, then unhook the trailer Sunday night and be ready for work on Monday in less than 10 minutes.
I've had this same setup in 3 different trucks since 1999. Works well for me. I do have another open bed truck and multiple trailers for hauling larger items that won't fit with the canopy.
