I'm torn, buy or not to buy

A New 2016 GMC Sierra 2500HD SLT 4WD 4D Crew Cab diesel caught my eye so I cruised in the lot 3 hours after hours to take a look. I was shocked by the $65,925 price. I was more surprised that the dealerships owner walked out of the side door with the keys and pitched them to me and said "bring it back tomorrow and we'll talk". I have bought 6 trucks from him in the past.

Fast forward, I have a 2011 GMC Sierra SLE 2wd 2500 gas crew cab that is still in great shape. The deal offered is a difference of $23,900. I know that it is a very good price BUT I still really like my truck. I can afford the new one and it would be a very nice upgrade but I still really like my truck. My wife even thinks I should trade, am I crazy if I don't make the deal?

    Likely less payload (both 2500 old truck gas/2wd, new truck diesel 4wd). If you are going to make that change, I would recommend getting the 3500 rather than 2500.

    4x4 vs 2 wheel drive, gas vs diesel, 5 years newer, higher trim package, better resale/valuable truck, warranty, etc. I don't see how you don't see that's a good deal personally. Now I'm not saying he should buy it. That's his choice completely. But it is a very good deal.

    ^ Lol. It's. It unless you want a brand new diesel 4x4. In which case it's a deal.
    Pretty unheard of to get high retail on a trade AND rock bottom price on the new one.
    I'd still make sure there isn't a hitch in it.
    Something with sales tax calc or has the sticker been jacked on the new one.
    $66k sticker for a srw 2500 with leather seems a bit high. Does that "sticker" price have any "market adjustment" or "dealer accessories" adder on the bottom line?

    You know the saying "if it sounds too good to be true it probably is". That deal just doesn't add up but if it is for real then take it!

    Do you really need 4x4? Beautiful truck though and your old one looks great also. Sounds like a smoking deal although I like my bank account fatter just in case! In the end I'm sure you will make the right decision for you. :B

    Dan has a good point here, you should check into the payload difference. If it is less than your truck, see if the dealer will put the 3500 overload spring pack in the deal and check that this diesel has the snow plow prep pkg. with the 6K torsion bars.

    Well yeah, me too, especially what's under the hood scoop.
    But $24k to trade up is a smokin deal.
    I took $12k off the tag on the new one and estimated 60kmi on the 2011, Cherry condition, almost retail value and came up with around $30k difference.
    If there's not a catch, it's a DEAL.
