My truck has "antilock braking system".... ABS
I've only had to hit the brakes fully in crisis mode a couple of times....
One time was when we were going south on the slope where we were about to get on the Golden Gate Bridge at a brisk pace.... someone in a little car spun out ahead of us.... everyone, in every lane slammed their brakes. I planted my foot all the way to the floorboard..... we slide a some distance but the truck continued tracking straight as an arrow as I steered between my lane strips. It was as if the camper wan't back there... and of course it was.
I looked around after we were stopped.... most of the other vehicles were sideways in the road.... even spun completely around them. None had rolled over thank goodness.
To me, this is a case where I have to ask myself... "Why would I want to mess with a system that is designed by professional engineers to use computers, and specific equipment to safely protect me, my family, and my equipment?"
How could my pea brain out think the pros?
Janet and I both use tow haul in the mountains.... and cruise control... the duramax/allison computers seem to make it all work... we steer.
I have enjoyed reading the other comments.... changed my brake fluid too!
