Increase MPG

I have a 2014 GMC Sierra 2500HD with the 6.0 gas burner. I have been looking at computer programmers and air intakes. Has anyone done any of these mods and did it increase your MPG any?

  • Everyone I have read that has the BlackBear tune loves it. Slightly more power at higher engine speeds only, but far better part throttle performance and feel. There is little to gain for any gas engine tuned for 87 octane. You can get little better for 91/93 octane, obviously with an extra expense.

Skip the cold air intake. An oil and gauze drop in replacement filter that can be cleaned and reused is a good idea IMHO.

My 6.0L took about 20k miles to break in and provided an increase in fuel economy over brand new. Yours should too.

    Well, there are two things.
    Slow down,
    And......
    Reduce weight!
  • There are many things a person can do to increase MPG. An electronic chip works best with diesels but do work with gas somewhat. Remove the chip when the dealer has access to the vehicle. The computer only records results. Use the BEST synthetic Oil you can find, Add E.P. polymers, use a K&N Filter or equal. The rest is common sense GOOD Luck
  • in my opinion there all hipe and on a new truck I,D worry it would effect the warrennty. remember those on board computers remember everything you do to your truck.
