Its a great road that you don't want to miss if you have a chance to drive it. There are lots of small high mtn paved roads in Colorado that I would rather be driving a Miata on, but can easily be driven in a truck/TC. Mtn Evans, Loveland Pass, Trail Ridge Rd, Ouray-Silverton, etc. Just go slow; most everyone else will be. Watch your brakes on the way down. Stop at some of the pull-offs and look around and take some photos. You may never be back; enjoy it while your there.
Where else are you going in Colorado? What month will you be there?
