We used to carry a five by ten foot tarp. The one half was used connected to bungee cords, and to each jack head. The other half laid out on the ground below the outside shower. Water would accumulate or run off the laid down shower, but it didn't splatter the mud back onto your feet. Dry sandals were kept just out of the way. Sometimes a second tarp was used to sheild prying eyes if necessary.
Cleaning up only involved putting away the shower items, and then shaking out the tarp to dry, very quick and convenient on a hot day.
Now we have a dry bath shower... haven't tried the outside one yet.
