Install of roof rack

I would like to install a roof rack on my Adventurer 89RB. How are you guys intalling it? are you just installing screws into the sidewall? I guess this means it has to be installed on the edges, isn't it hard to find cross bars long enough then?

I am considering two different methods.

- Topline Maggie: I like this one as I could just use unistrut as the crossbars. I'm a bit concerned with only 3 screws per pod.

-Yakima Track system: I like this as it would be low profile if completely removed but it would be more expensive as i'd have to buy the towers and crossbars.

I am trying to get a framing spec to see if they have any blocking or anything in the roof for this purpose.

thanks for any help.

edit: what about through bolting it? I think I could hide the plates behind the carpet in the ceiling and they'd be in the cabinets. How big of plates do you think I'd want to use?
  • I thought adventurer was already installing the maggie racks on their models? I would call the factory and see how they are mounting them. My 8' rails have a total of 14 screws per side for a total of 28 screws for the whole rack system.
  • I think they put it on the Eagle Cap's but not the Adventurer line. My dealer is trying to get me blueprints, they used to be good about answering my email but lately they don't respond.

My same experience with the local Adventurer dealer here in Ontario. Once the sale was done, they moved onto the next one and guess who is left in the dust begging for information or a response!!!
  • I worded that poorly, I meant Adventurer isn't responding to emails. My dealer is fine.

He was incredibly helpful when we had some issues.
