I thought about getting the 6600 retro kit, not installing the power lid motor, and seeing if I could wire it to work. I had the power lid thermostatically controlled one on my motorhome (not the 6600, but the wired version) and they seem to be using some sort of current sense on the lid motor to determine open or closed. It runs till it labors. The instructions even say to grab the lift knob and resist it turning, it will then stop.
On the one I had, if you switched it on with the in/out rocker first, it would run the lid motor until it sensed this. If you had the knob pulled out (manual mode) then the motor would run forever. If the thermostat turned it on or off and the knob was pulled out, again it would run forever. Sometimes the knob would pop out on its own and the motor would run. I heard it running one day and shut it off - might have been running for days.
Anyway I wonder if I could remove the lift motor and put a power resistor across the motor leads to simulate the stalled motor. Then maybe it would be happy with where ever the lid was?
