My van is similar and you can use a meter to back probe the 4 conductor plug to determine if you have a 0 to 12v signal on one of the wires. On your later model however I have been advised that these are all signal wires and do not go to 12v. In such a case I know that some have tapped into the stoplight wire to get the required 12v signal. You'll probably have better luck checking the chevy pickup forums. I used a replacement + side post on the battery that provided for accessory power.
