I camp to leave the comfort of home and ruff it a little. I am somewhat of a minimalist. Ive been out for weeks now hunting 20-70 degrees. Been cold hot and inbetween. I discarded my a/c years ago. No tv either. Thats why I enjoy camping getting back to nature. I am not quite ready for buckskins and a teepee but I do enjoy putting up with less. I run a small milk house heater when I have power ans suppliment with the house heater. I use a down comforter in the bunk. These things keep the rain off your head and provide a warm space to cook and sleep. A condo on the beach it aint.
