- N-TroubleExplorerLeather on those year GM trucks 99-07 were not known for holding up well. Very thin leather that cracks very easily. You would be better off buying an aftermarket leather kit and having an upholstery shop install.
- BurbManExplorer IIYou might check out Richmond Auto Upholstery in Texas. I found them on eBay and ordered a replacement seat bottom cover for the Suburban, it was torn in a couple spots. The color and fit were perfect factory match and looks great. Cheaper than seat covers since the rest of the seats were in good shape. The DIY wasn't that bad, but complicated due to power/heated seats. Maybe call and get a price on a set, or get an estimate from a local upholstery shop. No need to replace the seats, and what you get in a salvage yard will be worn and no guarantee that the seat motors, etc will work after they have been sitting in the weather.
- Iraqvet05ExplorerI believe 99-07 (old body style) are swapable among the 1500s to 3500s...they mostly have the same interior. If you buy used seats, watch the drivers seat bottom. The foam seat bottoms will start to fail over the years and when they do the leather seat bottom will crack or tear with it too. Seat foam and replacement panels are not cheap.
- HalmfamilyExplorerWhen we purchased our new Silverado in 2007 the dealer took the truck to an upholsterer and had fhe seats recovered in leather. I beleive he charged us $700. They looked good and held up great.
- AZDesertRatExplorerProbably cheaper and easier to buy a Roadwire or Katzkin leather upholstery kit. I reupholstered my 2006 F-150 Supercab with a Roadwire two tone perforated leather kit for around $800 and it only took about a day by myself.

Bill - 1oldtruckExplorerIs it a classic or newer body style? Do you need new seats or would a leather kit work?
- ksssExplorerThere are a lot of pickup accessory businesses that also install leather. Here for a bucket seat equipped GM pickup it would cost about 1200 to convert to leather. The aftermarket leather tends to be of better quality than the OEM leather.
