Internal puts all the stress on the material your bed is made from. Torklift's are mounted to the frame, the strongest part of you truck. No contest. Many can be installed by you easily. I had a local shop, Big O, do mine for $190 because I'm lazy. Just do not get them installed, or buy them for that matter, at an RV dealership unless you want to far overpay. Etrailer.com for the tiedowns themselves. Going this route I saved about 1/3 over the deal quote.
Don't really have a choice on where the installation will be done. Either type will be installed by Outfitter.
