Is it dumb to pay cash for a used rig, private seller?

You all know me; I worry about things, especially at the last minute. I think I have found my van. Mechanic approves it. He's not my mechanic, as I am not home, but he had good reviews on google....

Private seller and cash, no big deal. And I also would go to the DMV just because it would be a major hassle to get home and discover that one "i" didn't get dotted or one "t" didn't get crossed.

All the deals I've done in the last decade involved either cash or personal check. Never had an issue.
