Is it dumb to pay cash for a used rig, private seller?

^^^^^^^^^^^Doesn't sound odd to me at all, not that I agree with the practice mind you. Many of the banks around here won't cash a check drawn on a local bank and presented to them if you don't have an account with them. One of the reasons check-cashing businesses got started.
