I do not know how common or uncommon it is but I have seen a unit being delivered with the protective plastic covers removed, so the couple delivering it could use it in route.
To me that makes it a used unit. The dealer my look at it as "dealer prep". Do not expect the dealer to make a significant price drop, if you do not buy it the next person will.
It certainly would not hurt to ask for a discount but that still does not negate the fact that someone was sleeping in your bed.
I bought a three year old unit, it looked like a cream puff but who knows what it had been through. Two years and 23,0000 miles later it does not matter.
