Is it normal for a new TT to have been used?

We've decided to purchase a TT and have a good idea of what we want. We we're interested in a model in particular and went to see it earlier today. However, we were unable to see it because it was being used for the weekend by a friend of the dealership owner. Is this common practice? I was a little grossed out by this as the whole point of buying new is that I don't want a TT that has already been slept in.

  • Frankly I am surprised the dealer gave you the heads up on his friend borrowing it...that trailer should now be sold as a demo/rental model.

I think it is safe to assume that this unit is now considered USED...and you should insist that it be sold to you at the USED price, no matter how slightly used it is. Maybe you can insist on a new mattress to get over the coodies factor.

Otherwise...move on and find one that is truly new. Just remember, there may have been 20 other families that check out your unit while it sits on the dealer's lot. Kids MAY HAVE, jumped on the bed, climbed on the bunks, or even drooled on the couch.
  • No. Even when towed across the country, delivery drivers are supposed to get a motel room.

I can't believe this is an accepted or ethical policy and still call it "new". Personally I wouldn't buy it, unless I was looking for used.

    I concur.

  • Unless having somebody sleep in the bed, grosses you out, and I assume you never go to motels/hotels then, pay used price for it.
