Assume at will on peoples claims, but I have seen it myself that you can get good (relative) milage pulling a heavy 5er. A close friend has a 2005 6.0 350 DRW with the 4.10, his revs are higher then SRW 350 with 3.73, but a run from VA to FL and back and he was running in the low 11 mpg and we cruise I95 at around 68mph which seems to be a sweet spot for his truck. I know his trailer is near 14k but not the exact weight.
I would be curious to ask, have you noticed the truck having any issues starting in colder weather or spitting out some white smoke on start? I only ask because a known sign of a FICM going bad is reduced milage followed by poor cold start. If you have or know someone with a scangauge 2, run it down the road and monitor the FICM out voltage, it should average 48v and never see less then 46-47. If you are in the low 40's or lower then that your FICM power supply is going bad and it can directly relate to milage. Also make sure your alternator is putting out at least 13.5. I thought my FICM was going bad but it was actually my alt while not under threshold for the battery light, it was only putting out 12.9v instead of 13.5-14.1.
