I would say you are figuring right. If your FW loaded weight is under 12K, you would be well under RAWR/tire max rating. Worst case, you may need air bags to level the load, but a little squat is good, to help your FW tow level. You will add very little wt to the front axle, where the heavy Cummins is sitting. Many diesel 25 series trucks are towing FWs, that put them over their class GVWR.
