Is my Ram 2500 a wimp or am I missing something here?
Yeah your missing the fact trucks don't carry weight determined by the mfg GVWR.
Most folks that know how to read mfg website mechanical tech specs know in the case of a '13 2500/3500 SRW Ram the only difference in these two trucks is the rear spring pack numbers or a higher wheel/tire capacity.
The '13 SRW has a 7000 RAWR and the 2500 may have a 6000-6200 RAWR.
Your truck as many 2500 trucks rear axle can weigh in the 2900-3000 lb range leaving around 3200-3300 lbs for a max load in the bed.
I tow a 11200 lb 5th wheel trailer. This truck rear axle when hooked weighs in the 5200-5400 range depending on how the truck and trailer is loaded.
You have the truck so just like all truckers go some where and weigh the truck front and rear axles separately so you will know how much load you can place on the truck......and the rear axle as its going to carry most if not all of a trailers hitch weight and gear in the bed.
If your confused about your trucks legal weight numbers give your state size and weights folks a 1-800 or drop by your local state troop hdq. They will have have your answers.
