That Turbo Diesel option you paid $8,000 extra for just chewed up about 800 lbs of your payload. You should have gotten the gasser and you would have had 800 lbs more payload and you'd be good to go.
Sounds good on paper but in reality you are wrong, the engine weight is placed directly over the front axle very little goes to the rear. FACT is almost ALL the pin weight from a 5er goes on the rear axle. With 5,800# pin I only transfer about 100# to my front axle.
Payload = GVWR - Curb Weight.
And Curb Weight includes the engine.
Payload is everything left over including you, wife, kids, dog, firewood, tools, and the pin weight. It's that simple!!!
And that is exactly what that little yellow sticker says "Maximum weight of passengers and cargo shall not exceed ____ lbs". And "cargo" includes the pin weight.
You just don't understand! Your attitude is exactly why people get in trouble with their weights. I am talking 5er's NOT TT's or Truck campers.
Below is the rest of what I said to you that you deleted from my quote. Splains things.
"Op load your truck with family, hitch, tools, fuel etc ready to tow. Weigh your rear axle. Take that number from what the MAX load of your rear tires are. THAT is what your pin weight can be. Take that number X 5 that will be what the GVWR of the RV can be at 20 percent pin. If you are a weekend warrior 20 will be a good number. Full timer take the difference X 4 that will be 25 percent pin.
It's pretty darn simple!!! "
