OP, axle weights and tires are what matter. A set of airbags or timbrens work great. As most other sane posters have already said, the 10K GVWR is artificially low to meet a 3/4 ton badge. Despite what you read nobody's neighbor's hairdressers's sister's father in-law went to prison for being 100# over his GVWR.
Also, the "get a 3500, it's the same thing crowd" are not completely accurate. At least not with respect to Ram trucks. The 2500s have coil springs and the 3500s have crappy bumpy leafs. I'll gladly take the daily driving pleasure of my coils with a good set of airbags to be even better than your 3500.
And yes, I said better. I'll set 5 100 dollar bills on top of a yard of gravel in the back of my truck next to your stock 3500 with the same. Tallest truck gets the 1000. Any takers?
The coils do ride and handle better, no doubt. And only on rv.net do bags rated to carry 5000 lbs or Timbrens rated to carry 8600 lbs not make up for the 500 lb lower RAWR compared to the SRW 3500.
