I think the 10 speed transmission is more for fuel economy (especially unloaded fuel economy) than anything else. The Ram might be able to compete in the fuel economy department without going to 10 gears. I think f I went to Ram instead of Ford for my next truck I'd miss my Ford tow mirrors more than wish I had a 10 speed.
