Honestly. You aren't going to find a high MPG vehicle that will much more than a popup. And IF you plan on waiting until there is one. Your going to wait a LONG time. My 1989 Taurus got 30 MPG. My 96 Taurus got 30 MPG. A 2013 Taurus gets 26 MPG.
My 2004 2WD F150 gets 20 MPG highway. Even the New Ecoboost only gets 23. So there hasn't really been a lot of MPG improvement in todays vehicles.
And BNTW. I towed with a Jeep Cherokee. Plenty of power. But in reality. Too short for a TT with a total length over 24 feet. Bumper to ball, and that's pushing it.
