Pretty much on the nose but one must consider that the new diesels are NOT getting the mileage that they USED to.
New diesels must be EPA "smogged", with the pollution controls on them along with filter regens the mileage advantage has gone out the window. From what I have read many are getting 17MPG-19MPG empty and towing as low as 12MPG. Just not enough on the bone to make it cost effective. You are looking at a cost payback time well over 200K miles if you are lucky..
