I would not buy a 07.5+ diesel unless you are gonna work it hard all the time, you are commercial or plan on deleting it. Too much to go wrong and will go wrong. Pretty much all of the issues are with the Emissions. One their gone, no more issues. These new trucks are not for short trips or lots of traffic. If you want a good reliable powerful diesel, I'd go with a LBZ Duramax, 06-07. Minimal emissions and the 6 speed Ally. You should get high teens low twenties unloaded, and 11-14 loaded. I used to drive a 06 for work and found myself more than once doing 95+ towing a 18K pound trailer with plenty of power left. My LMM,07.5-10, will do the same, but moreso since I dont have a speed limiter. The crew cab is nice and roomy, with plenty of space for all my crap. Plus I have a 8' bed for everything else, because you never know what you might need to lug around. Diesels are not cheap up front or cheap to maintain, but will yeild you many long years and many hard miles before needing major repair. I think the deciding factor used to be over 25K miles a year a diesel will be cheaper, under that a gasser is better. I don't care what the numbers say, I will never own a gasser again.
