I think I should have been more specific in my request. I am looking for the best MPG for the 90% non-towing time. I know "towing" and "fuel efficiency" are mutually exclusive - it just physics. I would like to have a every day vehicle that won't break the bank on gas. I'm committed to poor MPG while towing the 10% of the time.
Why an SUV vs a PU ? We like to have the option to have 3rd row seating on occasion. Likely more important to us, is to have the dry cargo space (knowing what we give up with that).
You have given me a lot to think about - new(er) Suburbans, diesel options, PU options.
