Is there Age Limits on TT to stay at Current Parks or CG???

I spent a year touring Florida a while back with a 1992 model travel trailer. The inside had been completely remodeled and looked brand new but the outside was still all original. It was in really good shape though, considering it's age. We had A LOT of issues getting into privately owned RV parks all over the state. Most of them would ask the standard list of questions as soon as they picked up the phone: What kind? How long? 30A or 50A? How old? I found a lot of the CGs wouldn't allow more than 10 years old, regardless of appearance or condition, even for a stay as short as just one night. Some of them even had restrictions against more than 5 years old. Sometimes we got in situations where there just weren't any other options for CG in the area so I told them my TT was newer than it was, and I had a few times where they actually came out and looked at the manufacture tag during check-in. Some of those places are hard core. I kind of get why they are that way, especially if it's a really nice place, but it's kind of funny...they don't have rules that say you have to be a decent person!

:) Never knew about Destin , FL. until people spoke about it at a New Years party last night. Seems like a very nice beach community on the gulf.
I too, was thinking about vintage trailers that people have taken the time to restore like new ( or better than new). How about those who purchased beautiful restored trailers from places like Flyte Camp.

I applaud those that have the skills to take on these projects and put their heart into it.
I can't imagine, after buying one or doing all that beautiful restoration work, that some CG owner would have a rule to exclude it.
But, as stated, they can inspect it and override the rule.
Thank goodness because that would take the wind out of my sails for those , regarding a vintage restoration .

Yes, we stayed at a private CG that required your RV be no more than 15 years old.

They relented when we convinced them that our relative's motor coach was in "mint" condition.

They had a number of long term rentals and did not want a bunch of old beaters on the grounds.

We stayed at a place in Destin, FL (Destin RV Resort) that had a 10 year age restriction, but also had a clause for "vintage" and "Airstream" models. If you were over 10 years, you had to send pictures to them, then you were approved or declined. The place was very, very, nice though, cobblestone streets, highly manicured flora, etc...

We do not allow transient workers because we have found they just don't fit with our business model. We cater to the vacationing crowd, period. It's pretty unusual when I agree with you, but this makes sense. I have discussed this issue with a few CG owners, and some are very successful at it. IMHO, it seemed like it takes a lot more supervision and setting boundaries, and I understand why others simply say no. As for elitist, or whatever, I agree that it's nobody's business if you chose not to engage in any long term tenants. You live in a pretty rational state, from a legal perspective, but I have stayed in others where even an overnight stay generates a contract that makes it clear that the guest in no way has a tenant/landlord relationship and can not, for any reason be a guest for more than x# of days, usually less than 30. I can't imagine the hassles of dealing with a difficult guest who is now a legal tenant and has all the rights that entails, depending on what state we are taking about.

The local public parks in Southern MN, Northern IA, or Easter SD, have no restrictions. I have heard of private parks that do but, I have never been to one.

The local parks allow tent camping too but, in some of them the tents must be in a separate area. This sucks for those of us that take extra kids along and use tents for the kids. I just don't go to those parks when I have kids along which means they get less business from a lot of us.

Sometimes the "motorhome" restriction is due to the fact that a motorhome pulls in forward and a TT/5th wheel backs in. The utility connections for one won't work for the other. Also, a mix of TTs and motorhomes can have doors facing each other. Might be uncomfortable sharing the "front" yard with a stranger.

We have wintered in an rv resort for 15 winters. It has always had the 10 year rule and the length of an rv being too short rule. years ago this resort was not filling up so the rules were not that important but the cash was so many rv's arrived and were allowed to stay. Then the resort was sold to sun communities that also likes to make money and shorter and olders rv's are ok if they are taken care of. We had ours inspected this season for the first time but the word perfect came back to the office. As we all know the length of an rv or the age does not mean the owners are not as good people as the Provost etc folks. Money talks

We typically stay in state parks, but I have a buddy we camp with sometimes that likes the fancier places, and he wanted to meet at a place that had age restrictions, and was anti pop up. At the time we had an 11 year old popup. I called them, and told them what I had, and they asked for a picture, I emailed one to them, and they said to come on, that they tried to keep ratty trailers out. It was ok, but not our type of place.
