Is there any wood or sprayed foam in a travel trailer door?

An object fell onto the door of our TT, leaving a hairline crack in the aluminum sheathing...

I know the damage water infiltration causes in the structure of the trailer...so, here's the question:

Is there any wood in the door itself? Or any sprayed foam, that could swell if exposed to water? Or is the door just hollow, on an aluminum frame?

Thanks

  • Can you contact Crossroads and inquire? That would take the guess out of the issue and they may be able to advise a simple repair procedure.
  • I watched Camping World install a new door lock on a 25 ft. tow behind. It had Styrofoam sheeting in the door hollow. I could not see the frame material.

I suspect it depends on the TT make and model. I would remove the door lock and take a look.
  • I bet there's a good chance that if your trailer is wood framed, the door will be too. I think mine is. I know my last one was, but it was pretty old.
  • On our previous trailer the door was a wood frame with foam between the wood. The reason I know this is because it needed re enforcement due to it saging and no longer in alignment. I'm sure every manufacture has a different approach.
  • my class A was thin fiberglass on the outside with ridged foam in the middle and I don't recall the inside but no wood. I haven't seen the inside of other doors.

A druggy punched a hole in it looking for money for the next fix
