Issue with awning

Hi all. Last night I tried to roll in my awning due to wind expected over night. It came in half way and stopped. If I let go of the button and try again it would sometimes do nothing and sometimes go in about an inch or two.
It took 15 min of pressing and depressing the button to get it in.
Two things, any ideas on what I should check?
Is there a way to manually roll in an awning..

I am not sure the brand of awning but my trailer is listed below.

  • I found the manual to retract manually. Thanks.

I am still curious of the problem. Could it be a faulty switch. Is there a way to check the switch?
Like I said the motor retracted it, it just took stopping and starting to do it.
This Am. It rolled out fine. I just don't want to try rolling it in because now it is raining and I t
Want it extended for the day.
  • It's very frustrating and it applies to new as well as one's with a little age on them. Some people do not use them anymore and some are going back to the manual models.
The motors across the board on these fine products are weak. Any extra load like water or moisture can stop and start them.
Also a low battery could be a cause . When you are experiencing this problem, are you plugged in ? (truck or 110v )

Make sure their is no tension on the arms to restrict things causing the already weak motor more stress.

On one of the Dometic models, you have to remove an end cap and unscrew a hex screw and use a center webstrap, having a second person to hold that strap certainly will help.
It gets hand rolled with use of a center strap to control it. Once its closed, the screw and cap get replaced and you DO NOT USE it until you have it serviced by a tech.
You can download pdf's from dometic as well other mfg of these awnings.
  • Last night it was rolling out the same way. Inches at a time. I rolled it out this am and it went out no problem.
  • Look for a label on the tube or the framework. Mine is a Lippert Solera and can be rolled up or out with a socket. I downloaded a manual from LCI.
I would think your problem is that the frame is binding somewhere, since the motor seems to be in working order.
    Does it roll out OK?
