That's a nice thought but the OP has to get her rig out to CA so John Wood can work on it, and if it fails in the field the only warranty is through him. Every dink town has a Jasper dealer or Ford dealer or Aamco dealer, and if the OP has roadside service through Good Sam or CoachNet, the rig can be easily towed in for warranty service. Even bulletproof trannies can fail, and I would rather have the nationwide support network when I'm traveling vs betting that it won't fail at all.
That's just me, OP has to make her own decision on this.
That might be true of John Wood, but Brian's CS is legondary when needed and I wouldn't think twice about getting his tranny. One time IIRC he even sent a flatbed from Ar to somewhere in Id to truck back a vehicle to fix the tranny and then returned it to ID at no cost to the owner. There have been more than a handful of similar stories the few times such service is needed.
BTW I had Brian do his magic on my tranny when it was still under the new vehicle factory warranty and was less than 3 years old and had less than 30K miles on it. Not from any issue, but just making sure I didn't have any issues. Now over 10 years later and more than 50K miles with over 1/2 of those miles towing at 16K GCW my investment and peace of mind was well worth the price of admission and have never looked back or regreted my decision.
