Correct, Jasper is a rebuilder, not an OEM. The Jasper unit in my truck now is identical to the one that came in it from the factory, and identical to the one that a GM dealer would install (except for the upgrades noted by Jasper). The difference is that mine was remanufactured by Jasper, not GM. I've had it for a year now and seems to work just like the old one. I'm not saying that Jasper is any better or worse than OEM, just that it worked for me. Remanufactured parts in general have a better rep today than they did years ago.
Sounds the OP is going the Ford route, which is certainly not a bad alternative.
