As I said initially the EV transformation will start on commuter cars. Those who drive locally back and forth to work. Crossing the country with EV will happen but it will take longer for the infrastructure to develop.
Advancing technology will also be a part of this. I am not an EV guru no more than Leno is, however I can see the transformation coming simply because EV vehicles are more efficient with less emissions.
I compare it to LED bulbs vs. incandescent bulbs. You don't have to be an energy guru to see LED technology was going to transform lighting. LED bulbs are brighter and use less power. EV cars are more efficient and produce less emissions. Yes I know there may be more power plants, and battery disposal is an issue. But eliminating the exhaust from cars overshadows all of that.
