I'm not updated myself but I read sometime ago that Tesla's plan is to eventually have their charging stations cut-off from the grid with their own solar sources.
So Tesla is going to have acres and acres of solar panels set aside close to each charging station along with a battery station? If EV's take up to 25% market share, that would require tens of thousands of stations. Does Tesla have enough capital to buy that much land and the solar equipment? What happens with 50% market share or 100%? Either solar panels need to become vastly more efficient or Tesla is going to become the biggest land owner in the US.
Tesla can say what they want, but it does not mean it will happen especially given their past track record of empty promises.
