I don't have that Jeep, but I do have a similar capacity BMW 3 liter diesel, and I had a 2.8 liter Jeep Libby diesel until it dropped a valve at 200,000 miles. All those European 3 liter diesels are very strong engines, and very closely matched as to horsepower and torque. When we were looking to retire the Libby as tow vehicle, the JGC diesel was on the short list, but we opted for the Bimmer in the end.
I agree that you will likely run out of tongue weight/payload capacity before you run out of pull. But stay below those limits, and you will like the pull you get, as well as the mileage.
