  • Aw, gee whiz, Alex,
My buddie, Ralph Sauer has some perspective for this post:
"If presented with a choice between the legend and the reality, always go with the legend."
I still have to don my rubber gloves when I dump the black tank.

While we're at it, Alex has posted a finely edited new youtube vid. for those who can never get enough, "Bros on the Mojave Road" vids, showing some impressive side hilling and Alex towing the ubiquitous, bulletproof Uhaul with his mighty Ford F250 up the drop of death. jefe

  • Having spent many hours following and attempting to keep up with Jefe and Cabeza de Vaca on last fall's High Sierra XTC trip, I can truly say that Mike's interview represents Jefe and his rig and his knowledge very well. Jefe is very successful at doing what he loves.
  • Great interview with the man of many stories.
But can that 'December of life' nonsense - 'no sign of letting up' is what's important.
  • Thanks for sharing that - a great interview Mike did there. And obviously thanks to Jefe for taking the time to provide valuable insights.

    Steve.
  • Has to be one of the best articles I have ever read on truck camping :B
  • I'm sort of a newcomer to the TC forum but I always got the impression that he is very well respected on the forum and now I see that it is a reputation well-earned and deserved.

A GREAT read!! Yeah, I'd first heard of him through another, and of his many near death defying feats, including the solo resetting his own dislocated shoulder incurred during a rock crawling episode gone wrong, and that he liked to tend fire somewhere down around Saragossa (LOL!), but I mostly wrote this (along with trombone whispering) off as some sorta mystic Indian legend...

...But that was until '08 where we by chance 'actually' bumped into the Jefe spirit but in physical-form, with his DW Jeannie, while tending his legendary near-nuclear 'Maytag' fire ring, this all beneath the stars and supervision of El Capaitan, Yosemite N.P...A Grand spot of Vino indeed, very glad to hear he's still up and making his rounds!!

    Happy Trails,
