With a trailer that long, you really need a 250/2500 for control. The heavier truck, suspension, and brakes will have you in much better control, and will be much more comfortable to drive. Really the only debate should be gas vs diesel. The current gas engines preform really well with that weight trailer, and seem to be more trouble free than the diesels, all of the emissions stuff is really hurting the diesels. Also the diesel is an $8-10k option. The power of the diesel is undeniable, but is not necessary until you get in the 14k lbs and higher trailer, or will be towing in the big mountains out west.
