You all are right on and I appreciate the direct and quick responses.
Just to clear one thing up, I don't plan to sleep 6 people in this vehicle. That would be for other uses, like day use for a hike, not for camping in. 4 would be the max we'd expect to support in the field, though of course we might drive 6 people to a campground with hookups and then sleep 2 in a tent.
Because of the potential for off-roading, I'd like to avoid the dually. Is that feasible? I can do one ton. Would do the right tires and suspension for both off-roading and the weight.
So looking for one ton, super cab, modifiable for off-road, possibly with a short bed, as long as the camper I want can fit? If not then a long bed? Right idea?
