I towed using the HA with an F150 and a Ram CTD. Never really an issue with the F150, however it was with the CTD using the exhaust brake. I tow with the EB on all the time and don't use the brakes all that much unless it's a tight corner.
That style of braking won't work with the HA. You need the trailer brakes to always be activated enough to create drag on the truck. That will keep the trailer form pushing into the tow vehicle. A diesel with an aggressive EB like the Rams never activates the trailers brakes.
