Just ordered my Propride 3P - insight from current users?

Hi Guys,

just placed an order this morning for a Propride 3P hitch, looking quite forward to getting it next week I suspect.

Won't be installing it until the spring when it warms up a bit but I'm wondering in any of you current users have any tips or tricks for me for the install or first use?

Nobody around here uses these or even knows anything about them so i'm relying on what I've read online plus whatever instructions comes with the unit.

  • I'm looking real hard at the ProPride 3P. I'd be interested to know how you like yours.

I'm sure you've probably seen this page, but if not, might be helpful

  • Not sure if this is detailed in the 3P instructions but be sure to keep your trailer brakes dialed up so that the trailers brakes before the truck. Always keep the connection in tension. If the truck stops before the trailer, the trailer will "come around" on the cams, Google "Hensley Bump" for more info.

You're gonna have your best camping season yet with the new hitch, you will be amazed at how you ever towed without it. Had the 3P been available in 2002 I likely would have bought one instead of the HA.
  • I started with an Equalizer brand hitch and it did a fair job at controlling sway, but after a white knuckle experience towing a couple of years ago, I researched, ordered and installed the ProPride 3P and I will tell you, it's worth every bit of the premium in price compared to a friction control hitch. The difference is truly impressive, as the trailer tracks like it is on rails with the 3P. No more movement when a big rig passes or when I pass them. Plan on 5-6 hours for the install. That is what it took me with a couple of calls to Sean at ProPride. I had to remove my LP bottle tray and shim it up to allow the corner of the jacks to clear underneath it. It wasn't a big deal at all. After using the 3P for two seasons now, I would recommend one of these for ease of hitching up, it makes it so much easier and I can hitch up by my self with it.
