The ones I crack up at are those that want to tow based strictly on MFG. Tow Rating number without regard for the other numbers that come in to play long before that magical tow rating number is achieved.......axle ratings, payload capacity, rear tire load ratings.
Well honestly it shouldn't crack anyone up, it should make you want to help which is why we all ended up here, to share info and help each other. I think most people that get into camping with a travel trailer haven't towed anything more than a household landscape trailer before and rely on what truck manufacturers and travel trailer companies tell them are their "max towing capacities" and "dry weights". This is very misleading, one because of all the other factors involved in towing, and two because when the commercials, magazines, dealers, salesmen and brochures all say this truck can tow X lbs or this trailer's dry weight is Y lbs and that's what they are lead to believe.
Most of us are still learning and think what we are told by the ones building these things is the truth, because why wouldn't it be.
