I posted this originally because I see alot of new people getting into camping asking questions here about towing. Real experiences with real equipment set- ups is valuable to hear. Sure a truck may pull "anything we have on the lot", but will it pull it safely and without having to fight it all the while your on the road? Will you wear out your engine,suspension and brakes quickly towing too heavy a trailer? (this is where the 80% rule comes in) sure will. Let alone the accident probability increases (my belief)if your at the very top of your capacity. Yep, you can get it going, but you have to stop it too, and sometimes very quickly. Salesmen are not there to look out for your well being. only you can do that, and its nice to have little help from others that share their experiences.
